Welcome to 2010 and thanks a lot for all the Christmas greetings, I really appreciate that. There will be a few changes around here this year. Unfortunately I won't be able to make quite as many freebies as before, so I can't promise you two new freebies every week. Sometimes it is hard to find the time and inspiration, and as this is something I do just for fun and not for profit, I prefer to do it in my own pace and whenever I feel inspired. I will keep posting both tutorials, tips and freebies though, so hopefully I will be able to post something every friday. As you might have discovered, IkeaGoddess has decided not to hunt for freebies any more, but my freebies are still available at DigiScrapDepot.com.

I have been looking for some different stamp fonts for the file tabs, so this is what I found. Just "Google" the font name, and they are all free................

10 different metal hinges in .png format (rusty, steel, weathered, worn, verdigris etc.).

10 different small hinges in .png format.

One of the magical things about scrap booking is playing around with opacity and layer blend modes to change the appearance of a photo. A very good friend of mine found some lovely old film textures at http://lostandtaken.com/ and  I thought that I would try to make something with them. I removed the background, resized and rounded the corners and you can download the edited textures here (don't miss "Lost and Taken" though, as there are lots of other goodies there). Anyhow this is what I came up with:
I tried to make some quick examples to show what photos can look like, when you adjust the opacity and apply
different layer blend modes to the film textures. This all depends a lot on the photo you use, and it is very much
a "trial and error" thing, so go ahead and have fun.............

Still have some old freebies made in 2009, so found these "Piggy" and "Bunny" twill pieces.... :-)

http://www.4shared.com/Piggy_and_bunny_twill.html
Some old tape from 2009, but hope you like it anyhow.

http://www.4shared.com/Cute_bunny_tape.html
I think this hinge looks kind of weird, but hope that  you like it anyhow - LOL. There is 10 hinges in .png format in this bag.

http://www.4shared.com/Weird_hinge.html

10 medieval style hinges in .png format.

http://www.4shared.com/Medieval_hinge.html

I have been working on some vintage clocks lately, so
hope you like them. There is 5 different colored clocks in this bag (the small picture in the moons age window is different too). Later I will post a clock template too, making you able to change both the clock background, the small picture in the moons age window, and set the clock hands.

http://www.4shared.com/Vintage_clocks.html
Before Christmas last year I promised to add these signs without the Christmas text on, so here they are. There is 15 signs in .png format included in this bag.

5 layered PSP or PS hinge templates, so you can make your own hinges. Just open the template and paste your own color/pattern into the color/pattern layer. Merge all visible layers and your hinge is ready to use.

Before Christmas someone asked about envelopes and quill pens to go together with the Christmas stamps and rubber stamps. I actually made those freebies, but didn't had the time to post them for various reasons. But here they are, and you can download by clicking the link:

2 quill pens (one brown and one blue/yellow)

Envelope backs (8 old envelope backs)

Envelope fronts (8 old envelope fronts)

Envelope fronts (8 old envelope fronts with different stamps/rubber stamps applied)

13 V-shaped plastic clips in .png format.

Vintage clock template in .psp and .psd format. Change the clock face background, the small picture in the moons age window and move the clock hands.

"JJ" asked for some of the stamps I used on the envelope fronts, but actually I didn't use any stamps. Instead I looked for a philatelic webpage, and found a few where they display pretty old postal stamps on envelopes covers. I copied the stamp I liked and pasted it onto my envelope front (or back) in a new layer. Then I changed the layer blend mode for this new layer to "darken". In most cases you don't have to do any more, the area surrounding the stamp will be invisible and the stamp will look great. Sometimes however you need to resize the stamp, or use your eraser tool a little bit to remove small unwanted areas. This is a pretty cool way to do it, and you don't need to convert the stamps into .png files. Make sure that the stamp you chose is darker than your envelope, as light or white areas will be invisible.

If you prefer ready made .png files instead, you can download my small "Collection of 30 postal stamps/labels". I didn't do anything except turning the stamps I found on the web into .png files, so mind that they will be scruffy and non-perfect, but this is how I like them (you can see some of them above). Use your eraser tool to remove or make areas of the stamps less visible.

I had so much fun making the stamps, and just couldn't stop - LOL. So I also made this collection of
"12 travel stamps" taken from our old passports. Below you can see some of the stamps used on one of my old envelopes.

I know it is a bit late for Valentine, but I couldn't resist playing around with my old candy hearts. Download here (the black background is for preview only): http://www.4shared.com/file/225830501/3031aa8c/Valentine_quotes.html

Soffy asked about a tutorial on how to make shadows on photos, so here it is. There is also a similar tutorial on  http://www.storeide.se/gunhild/Scrapbooking7.htm. This tutorial is made for PSP, but hopefully PS users can use it too.
3 little scanned frames from my mothers collection of old frames.

Tip: You can find a nice free paper clip font made by Alan Carr here
http://www.fontspace.com/alan-carr?p=3 If you need a paper clip template, you can use the "I" from this font.

Heidi asked how to make a basic paperclip. You can start with the "I" from the font above (first picture below).

Apply a bevel, and then you have a basic paper clip (second picture from left).

If you want the paperclip to be more shiny or metallic you can use a filter like "Super Blade Pro" or "Alien skin Eye Candy 6" to apply effects like "Crome" (third from left) or "Crome" and "Glass" (forth from left). You can download a free trial of "Eye Candy 6" here: http://www.alienskin.com/downloads/

I made a simple steel colored alpha from the font I found.
It includes capital letters, numbers and a few signs. I also made a PSP and PS template, so you can make your own paper clips by pasting your own color or pattern into the "color or pattern" layer.

http://www.4shared.com/Paper_clip_alpha.html
I am still cleaning up from 2009, so decided to put all my old twill ribbons together in one bag. To the left you can see the different ribbons. Download here: http://www.4shared.com/file/231358938/730cb18e/Twill_collection.html
This bag contains 8 different frames. Some are meant for one picture and some for two. 4 frames are made of old postcards and newspaper.

http://www.4shared.com/4_old_tabbed_frames.html
I made this alpha with wooden pegs a few days ago, and hope that spring is soon on the way now - LOL. The string is for preview only and made by The Scrappin Cop. The alpha contains capital letters, numbers and a few signs.

Tip:
There are lots of  patterns with birds around these days
, and I saw some cute blog tabs with black birds, and tried to make a copy. I found the blackbird silhouette here http://www.fun-with-pictures.com/bird-silhouette.html, resized the silhouette and changed the color to red. The free font I used is called "Auburn". Now I just wish I had more time to re-decorate my own site - LOL.

Donnamarie asked for a bubble wands, so here are some wands shaped like a circle, star, flower and heart. The wands are red, but you can easily recolor yourself. Keep the lightness untouched, and then change hue and saturation, until you get the color you want.

http://www.4shared.com/Bubble_wands.html
Easter is coming up soon, so I thought I would make some additional bird eggs. There are 9 eggs in this bag. The size is about 900 x 700 pixels, so they have approx. the same size as the old eggs I made on Page 2

http://www.4shared.com/More_eggs.html

Next week I will have some brand new Easter goodies for downloading, so be sure to come back. Did you know that thanks to you guys, I now have had more than 800.000 downloads - it is pretty amazing isn't it?

Here you can see how I used some of the eggs from above.

The bow is from Weeds and Wildflowers, and the bunny
tag will be up for download here next week. :-)

Hope that you will have a Happy Easter, and thanks for all the nice comments, I really really appreciate that.
                                                                                                                      Hugs from Gunhild

JJ asked about a bird nest, however I haven't got one. I can tell you how I make a nest though. If you are so lucky to have an empty nest, take a picture of it on a white background, otherwise "Google" for a nice nest on a white or almost white background. Now the problem is all those tiny annoying twigs, making it difficult to extract the nest and make a decent .png file. So instead of trying to make a .png file - I will let you in on a secret here - I cheat! Follow the tutorial below, it is very easy and can be used on similar items with a "difficult" edge. Chose a fairly light background paper and use your eraser at approx. 30-50% opacity, in order to not erase too much.

Regarding feathers the easiest thing to do is to use a brush, you can find some nice one here:

http://www.brusheezy.com/brush/94-Feathers

http://www.pixelmoonstudio.com/blog/resources/free-photoshop-brushes-download.php

http://dollieflesh-stock.deviantart.com/art/Feather-Brushes-38597064?offset=20

Well, some people asked for baskets as well, so you can also download my collection of 17 different baskets on a white background. Mind that they are different in size and resolution, as it is pictures I found on the web. I always try to search for large images though. Use the same technique as with the nest, to put them on your layout. http://www.4shared.com/file/249699405/3ae3510a/Baskets.html

Okay, so this week it is time for Easter bunnies (Easter chick and ducklings are coming up next week). This bag contains 8 very different tags - but all contains Easter bunnies in some form.

http://www.4shared.com/Hoppy_tags.html
I just love Easter bunnies! This little tag is brand new and comes in 10 different colors. Some with a white bunny and some with a black one.

http://www.4shared.com/Bunny_tags.html
Remember "Wordle", the internet toy which generates word clouds from the text you provide? I thought it could be funny to make some "Wordle cloud bunnies". I used text from old songs and poems about Easter bunnies, so maybe you can guess from looking at the words which song or poem I used - LOL. Anyhow, if you like them, you can download here:

http://www.4shared.com/Wordle_easter_bunnies.html
        http://www.4shared.com/Another_wordle_bunny.html
I used one of the baskets from above and applied an
Easter chick, a bow and some colored eggs.

Tip: Use the geometric effect "Spherize"  in PSP to make your text or picture follow the curves of your Easter egg.

10 chick tags in different colors, some have a white chick and letters on a dark tag (not shown here).

Duckling frame cluster in .png format.

http://www.4shared.com/Duckling_frame_cluster.html

This  running bunny pattern looks really cute, when you apply different patterns/colors to the bunnies.

http://www.4shared.com/Seamless_tile_bunny_pattern.html

If you like the duckling cross stitch ribbon above, just click to download... :-)

10 different twill spring ribbons, even a late Easter egg ribbon and a bunny ribbon - LOL. And I promise, no more bunnies, eggs and twill for a while!

http://www.4shared.com/Spring_ribbons.html
Anna, you asked for stitched button holes, so here they are. You can apply a dark shadow in the middle (like on the right button hole above), if you like it. Blur the shadow a bit to make the edges of the cloth look smooth.

http://www.4shared.com/Button_holes.html

Laila asked for a magnifying glass, so here it is: http://www.4shared.com/Magnifying_glass.html

I collect a lot of things, and one of them is fonts - LOL. I am really a "fontaholic", and I can't resist a nice font, so here are some new ones for  you:

9 keyholes in different materials and colors (without drop shadow) and a PSP and PS template, so you can make
your own keyholes with the texture or color you want.

http://www.4shared.com/file/Z2wu7Gfl/Keyholes.html
7 old keys in different materials and an old lock (not shown here)

http://www.4shared.com/file/oMk2f-TD/Keys.html

Anna asked for an envelope template a long time ago (and sorry it took a while, Anna), but I finally made it, and maybe someone else would like it this template too....

The file is a layered template made for PSP (.pspimage) or PS (.psd) and size is approx. 2000x2000 pixels.

Open the template and fill the "color" layers with your own  color or pattern and attach your note or letter in the "letter layer". If you don't like the drop shadow, it is made in a separate layer, so you can just turn it off. Here are some very quick examples I made earlier, you are probably much more creative than me.... LOL.

Download PS template here:
